PROJECT

Multiform

A collaborative project with Arthshila, Goa

Multiform draws attention to the fluid, interdisciplinary approaches that shape much of Goa’s contemporary art landscape. Many artists here move between image-making, textiles, sound, performance, research, digital practices, or poetry, allowing ideas to define the medium rather than the other way around. The six-month program follows these shifts through sessions that range from performance-led and presentation-based formats to conversations and spoken word. It moves from explorations of queer expression in art, to engagements with local performative traditions, to discussions on craft lineages, multimedia practice, technological interfaces, and poetic performance.

Developed by Goa Open Arts in collaboration with Arthshila, the series builds on a shared interest in creating thoughtful public programs that foreground artistic process and conversation. As part of a wider curatorial trajectory leading up to the Goa Open Arts Festival 2026, it offers an early look at the ideas and discussions shaping the forthcoming edition. Multiform creates a space for artists to share work in progress, reflect on ongoing concerns, and situate their practice within the wider landscape of contemporary art in Goa.

Queering Art:

Perspectives and Practices from Goa

7 December, 2025

Arthshila | Nachinola, Goa

La Faust (Ryle Souto)

Sanika Dhakephalkar

Leo Paapam

The evening started with a performance by La Faust - Do You Know What You Are Doing? Followed by a panel discussion moderated by Avril Stormy Unger featuring participating artists

The panel delved into the artists’ personal artworks. Each artist engaged deeply with personal narratives, and the discussion explored what it meant to practice vulnerability in one’s work—to share personal lives and stories publicly, to navigate the dynamics of the gaze that accompany such exposure, and to consider the processes of care and recovery that follow performances or exhibitions.
